Ellen Fallowfield

Cellist Ellen Fallowfield is an active interpreter and researcher in the field of contemporary music. She studied cello and contemporary music at the Hochschule für Musik Basel, Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, and Kunst Universität Graz. Research grants from the Swiss National Science Foundation and the Maja Sacher Stiftung supported her in the creation of the Cello Map App, the webpage www.cellomap.com, and research into etudes for contemporary music. As an interpreter of new music, she has performed in leading international festivals and is a member of several ensembles, including Ensemble Aventure Freiburg, Ensemble Lemniscate Basel, and Eunoia Quintet Basel. Close collaboration with established and promising young composers is an essential aspect of her work. Since 2020 she has held the position Head of Studies in the Specialized Masters programme for the specializations Research, New Music, and Music in Context at the Hochschule der Künste Bern.
