morgan gerstmar (she/her/hers) is a los angeles based educator, performer and composer. she likes to blur the lines between who is performing, composing and listening/watching her work. the experience can be more visual than auditory–leading to a multi-dimensional art form. scores may use traditional notation to text to imagery depending on the piece. soundscapes vary from pure drones to consonant music to noise on traditional instruments and found objects. some of the work plays off game design–using detailed instructions and conditions–while others are open-ended meditations. if there was one word to sum up morgan’s work it would be whimsical.
